Is this film, is this post-processing? I want the definitive dark blurred lines and shadows for some upcoming portraits...Is this the Terry Richardson method of an auto-focus film camera? Help! Please...even if it's a photoshop trick to attain this look... Thanks in advance!

Increase the contrast and deacrease the saturation. Very easy. That's all there's too it.
It looks like Jill Greenberg pic ... here's some chatter about how to obtain her style: http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/photo-retouching/13168-great-style-jill-greenberg.html
Good luck!
#1. the "style" has jumped the shark.
#2. usually with a ring flash.
#3. it's all about lighting.
#4. and, even more about post production.
What Brian said. It's probably digital post-production in PS, fiddling around with the curves (in the red channel). I'm thinking it's the red channel that's toned down because the red in his face is subdued and not ruddy, and there's a slight blue/green cast in his face shadow.
Also they probably used diffused lighthing (3 or more lighting sources most likely), and possibly filters on their very good camera lenses.
GOOD LIGHTING.
you mean it's not just and iphone app?
Who's the photographer?
If using iPhoto do the following:
- increase CONTRAST
- decrease SATURATION
- increase DEFINITION
- increase HIGHLIGHTS
OK, I know that this is a really old post and that the style has been done to death, but nonetheless. Some of the other posters are pretty close, but not quite right on. The cheek creases and eye wrinkles give away the technique.
I'm 99% sure that the workflow involved here is similar to Amy Dresser (Jill Greenberg's retoucher).
Details and PSD file can be found here: http://blog.arte-design.eu/2011/01/amy-dresser/
Most of it is pretty straightforward, there's just a little trick that she does for the final step to get that "shine" on the cheeks.
