You crazy for this one Plett haha. I just ordered some wax, but my vans have holes in the toes so it would be redundant. This might inspire me to look around for what else could use a proofing though.
Nice idea. I wore my Jack Purcells out the other day - the problem wasn't soaking, but freezing. Of course, I live in northern Finland and it was -20'C so that might have been the problem. :)
Good idea. I was just wondering how I can make my canvas shoes last through the winter.
Anyone have good tips for cleaning the canvas before hand? I have those Sperry/Band of Outsider canvas boots, and they're salted up to hell from the last winter.
You can buy cleaners specifically formulated for taking off salt. I forgot the name off the top of my head, but I even use it on my heavier-duty Vasque hiking boots after a winter of salt/sludge soup.

Good call. I did the same thing to my Toms last Spring.
Angelo- haha, yes, crazy... Filson wax is the shit, so easy to use, did this with my hand.
Rick- nice...

Ryan—what laces are you using there?
What color are those Authentics? I've never seen them before.
Jon- think it was called brindle...
I did this with some $10 Wal-Mart shoes. It looks nice, but I haven't had the chance to try them in the rain yet.
