Carhartt Chicago Store

New to Chicago's Bucktown/Wicker Park area, the Carhartt Store is one of only a few in the country. Full of classics from Carhartt including chore coats and canvas pants, the store also has a few of their harder to find items and some curated brands that fit alongside their own.  Bags from Duluth Pack and Will, belts and accessories from Woolrich, knifes, gloves, and of course some boots to round out the product mix. The store build out is really nice, with a full wall completely built into a huge bookcase and shelving unit and wardrobers.  There are token (and almost over done now) antiques everywhere, to no fault of their own, which is just sort of a menswear standard now I guess...  Overall the store looks and shops very well. there are quite a few other brands I would like to see carried, and an increase in the Carhartt Europe items stocked would be nice.  The store manager Chelsea is great and is expecting some more inventory and broader product range soon, so it looks like they will get even better.  Check it out if your in the neighborhood; the store is located at 1518 N. Milwaukee Ave.

It looks like Anthropologie was injected with steroids & bourbon. I like it.

I popped in there yesterday and I have to say that I felt that the whole thing seemed a bit disingenuous. It just seemed like they were a little too eager to hitch their wagon to the Americana thing (and at boutique pricing). Perhaps if they had a wide range of items that were unique to these shops, but it didn't seem so. Most of the items I felt like I could drive out of Chicago and get for a lot cheaper at the farm and feed stores that Carhartt is known for being sold in.

James, yeah the "archive" type stuff in the store is crazy beat...

The Europe stuff I picked up was from Italy, denim jacket and slim khakis, no cords but the store manager says more is on the way... I'll keep ya posted..

Been sporting the Carhartt's since 1998, totally agree go 90 minutes west of Chicago or any where "down state" say near Springfield, IL and go to a Farm & Fleet, Rural King, Midlands (you get the idea) and almost any "standard" Carhartt gear can be ordered for you, may take a few weeks.

Sat next to a Carhartt sales rep last summer on a plane, Carhartt is slowly transferring itself into a "lifestyle brand" - like some of the new gear coming out, sure hope they keep focus on the bread n butter items that Carhartt is know for!

Looks great, but done a bit better and more organic by Lincoln Ave's Isle of Man in North Center.

Moose- that's a very hard comparison... A one off boutique compared to a huge brands take at a speciality store isn't really a good retail measure. This store is focused on selling clothes, I'm not really sure what Isle of Man is doing, antiques, a few pairs of stock (the ones everyone has to stock) Aldens, and leather jackets hardly makes it s clothing store. In fact the management and staff I've talked to this past winter said they aren't looking to be a clothing retailer... Which confuses me as to how and what they are going to sell... But not my business or client so Im not really concerned... Anyways yeah, not really even close... Unless they flipped their business model this past season... I had zero interest or desire to make my way back... No offense, just nothing for me there...

Love the blue button down in your pictures with the duck logo on the chest!
