For Sale - Alden Captoe Boots in #8

Love these boots, but the grant last (10.5D) just does not fit my foot... too narrow.  They cost $625 and I got them around Thanksgiving, but have only been worn maybe ten times.  I would like to get at least $500 for them, but make an offer, going to grab the #8 Jumper boots on the barrie last which fits me the best.

Carhartt Chicago Store

New to Chicago's Bucktown/Wicker Park area, the Carhartt Store is one of only a few in the country. Full of classics from Carhartt including chore coats and canvas pants, the store also has a few of their harder to find items and some curated brands that fit alongside their own.  Bags from Duluth Pack and Will, belts and accessories from Woolrich, knifes, gloves, and of course some boots to round out the product mix. The store build out is really nice, with a full wall completely built into a huge bookcase and shelving unit and wardrobers.  There are token (and almost over done now) antiques everywhere, to no fault of their own, which is just sort of a menswear standard now I guess...  Overall the store looks and shops very well. there are quite a few other brands I would like to see carried, and an increase in the Carhartt Europe items stocked would be nice.  The store manager Chelsea is great and is expecting some more inventory and broader product range soon, so it looks like they will get even better.  Check it out if your in the neighborhood; the store is located at 1518 N. Milwaukee Ave.

Black Fleece Canvas Bluchers

these are amazing in person, snapped this on Michigan this afternoon picking up my new trousers and shirts... made by Alden I guess... the soles look like they are but never seen a canvas shoe from them.  Only a matter of time before they become mine...

Red Label

*after a couple emails and tweets I thought I'd reference the materials and construction of the bag since most haven't seen Red Label... the canvas is (to the best of my knowledge and feel) the same thickness and stiffness as the khaki or green options I've previously owned.  The tan bridle leather is a bit softer and less shiny than the standard dark brown bridle and should look amazing after some wear and tear... other than that, same zippers, and sewing, both great... very happy with it... should be a great carry-on.

Handmade Coat Rack

finished.
first we mocked everything out in the 1/2" black steel... we used two 4 foot pipes for the sides, and a 3 foot pipe for the top and two 18" pipes with a union for the bottom... we changed a few things at this point..
bottom structure... changed to T's instead of elbows... needed to use 3" pipes to support the wood shelf...
then added a 45 degree elbow and plug at the top for a hanging front and back hook...
moved the union and 18" pipes to the bottom to be covered by the wood shelf... *a union must be used because the threading on one side of your pipe will unscrew itself as you tighten the opposite side...
we used two 1"x8" oak for the shelf... joined together underneath...I wanted to use old (free) wood and nothing we had was wide enough and/or long enough...
then sanded down the wood, applied some Linseed oil, and then some furniture polish to darken the markings and scratches... after that measured out the distance between the base pipes to cut out room to slide the wood into place on top of the bottom feet (pipes)... after that just sanded the cuts and burrs and dropped the wood into place.... then we had the final product...
total cost: $71.00 and a great time...
thanks Dad for troubleshooting and letting me use your toys!
